2018 NeNGA Nut Crop Evaluation Announcement

Results after the nuts from the growers are logged in and then are weighed, cracked, sorted and finally inspected.  After the nuts get evaluated, the nuts  are displayed for all to see and taste.

I hope you all have saved a sample of your best nuts to be evaluated.  There are so many factors that affect the nut quality and taste.   Every year is a new year.  The nut evaluation for 2018 crop year will be held on January 12^th at the Nut House in Valparaiso.  NeNGA will provide pizza and drink.  Last year we had a lot of nuts that were evaluated and we finished just in time for Pizza.  It is always interesting looking at the array of different cultivar nuts.  You can also taste samples of different cultivars.  The evaluation results will be posted on the NeNGA’s website along with prior years.  The weather for the 2018-growing season this year has produced some surprises.  We had lots of moisture this year on the eastern end of Nebraska, but moisture was only part of the equation.  Bring your appetite and taste buds.
