Growing great nut trees for the future generations, Seminar, Mar. 22nd

Some of us remember in our younger days when our parents or grand parents had us gather nuts from one of their nut trees.  Then, usually rudimentary forms of cleaning/cracking were used.  The nuts were then used for special pies, cookies and confections for the holidays and special events.  Now, one can grow and harvest higher quality nuts and use new techniques to make the process fun and rewarding.  The using of grafting techniques that NeNGA can teach you will yield higher quality nuts and shorten the time to production.  Heartland Nuts ‘N More will also present the processing and marketing of the nuts.

Nebraska Nut Growers Association & Heartland Nuts ‘N More coop are sponsoring a great opportunity to learn how to plan, grow, harvest & market your high quality nuts grown in our area on Thursday, March 22nd, 7-9 p.m. at the Lancaster Extension Education Center, 444 Cherrycreek Road, Lincoln.  There is no cost at the door and there will be door prizes that include several seedling nut tree varieties and nut seeds.  Growing nut trees can be a great family activity now and for the future.

Everyone has different expectations and goals when growing nut trees.  This seminar will introduce to most aspects of what it takes to accomplish your goals and expectations.  You will also have an opportunity to meet with local professional growers of several trees to large orchards
